Divorce

Submit the following documents to the Civic Affairs Section at Urayasu City Hall when you are getting divorced.

Documents to submit

• Divorce notification: one copy
  Available at city hall.Submit the copy as a couple.
• Certificate of all matters in the family register (when getting divorced from a Japanese national)

When a foreign national and a Japanese national are getting divorced

After submitting the divorce notification to the Civic Affairs Section, notify the embassy or consulate of your home country that you have gotten divorced.

When two foreign nationals are getting divorced

The laws of divorce differ depending on the country.Please contact the embassy or consulate of each of your home countries.

To get divorced under Japanese law, you must submit a divorce notification as a couple.

Certificates available after submitting a divorce notification 

You can obtain a certificate of receipt or certificate of registered matters at the Civic Affairs Section 
(350yen per certificate).
